VAIBHAV Fellowship 2025

VAIBHAV Fellowship 2025 is an initiative started by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India. The aim of this fellowship is to connect Indian overseas scientists to universities, colleges, and government-funded research places in India and collaborate on ongoing research projects. Selected fellows will receive a fellowship amount of up to ₹4,00,000 per month and other benefits.

Eligibility

To be eligible, an applicant must:-

  • be a degree holder in the Ph.D./M.D./M.S./M.Tech field
  • be a non-Resident Indian (NRI), overseas or a Person of Indian Origin (PIO) 
  • be engaged in active research
  • be working/worked in a foreign Institute/University and have at least 5 years of experience

Note:-

  • Experience gained during the Ph.D. and Post-doctoral fellowship period will not be considered.
  • The applicant should not be a Ph.D./Post-doctoral fellow.

How to apply

Eligible applicants can apply for the scholarship through the following steps:-
Step 1:
Click on the 'Apply Now' button.
Step 2: Click the 'Register' button and fill in the required registration details. (Note:- If already registered, log in using Gmail/Mobile number/Email ID)
Step 3: Click on the ‘Apply for Proposal’ on the top right side of the page. 
Step 4: Click on the ‘New PI Registration’ tab.
Step 5: Enter the required details and click on the ‘Submit’ button.
Step 6: Log in using the valid credentials.
Step 7: Fill in the necessary details and upload the required documents in the online application form. 
Step 8: Now, click on the ‘Submit’ button. 
 
Note:-

  • The Indian Host Scientist must apply online on behalf of the interested scientist of Indian origin (the applicant).
  • The applicant must complete the application form with all the necessary information and documents and upload it through the DST's e-Project Management System (e-PMS) portal.

Benefits

The selected fellows will receive the following benefits:-

  • ₹4,00,000 per month for a minimum of 1 month and a maximum of 2 months, per year (in a single stretch) for a maximum period of 3 years.
  • Round trip from the place of the parent institute to the place of work in India, in business class, once a year.
  • A guest house or hotel up to ₹7,500 per day.
  • Contingency amount of ₹1,00,000 for research work in India.
  • Domestic Travel (economy class) for academic purposes up to two Indian academic/ scientific institutes in a year.

Selection criteria

The students will be selected based on the fulfilment of the eligibility criteria.

More details

  • Only one application per host/applicant is allowed. Multiple submissions will be rejected.
  • Application requests for deadline extensions will not be granted.
  • Applications lacking signed consent letters from the Heads of both the Host and Applicant's Institutions will be disqualified.
  • No phone calls or emails will be answered within the 72 hours leading up to the application deadline.
  • All required certificates and documents must be properly signed and stamped by the authorised personnel at the respective institutions.
