About the Program
The University of Hamburg Merit Scholarship 2026 is an opportunity offered by the University of Hamburg to students pursuing a degree at the Universität Hamburg for at least 2 semesters. The selected candidates shall receive a monthly scholarship of up to €992 for a maximum period of 2 years.

What is the Eligibility
To be eligible, an applicant must:-
- have been enrolled in a degree program at Universität Hamburg for at least two semesters
- be a student in a 2-year master’s program who has completed at least one semester (if applicable)
- not be a doctoral researcher
- not hold German citizenship
- not be eligible for the German federal student loan scheme (BAföG) under Section 8 of the Federal Training Assistance Act

- Master’s degree students must submit the following documents:
- The most recent degree certificate with grades, issued in English or German.
- Either the STiNE printout of the “Leistungskonto” or a current transcript of records.
- Evaluations from 2 full-time teaching staff members
- Proof of subject-related additional achievements and academic awards
- Residence permit of Non-EU citizen
Selection Criteria
The scholars are selected based on their eligibility and academic merit.
