About the Program

The Nehru Sidhant Kender Trust (Trust) is deeply committed to empowering young minds, especially girl students, by giving them an opportunity to pursue higher education. To achieve this objective, the Trust has launched merit-cum-means scholarship program that fully covers the annual course fees (as per the selected institute’s fee structure) to support students from diverse socio-economic backgrounds who aspire to continue their studies after 12th grade. The scholarship is for students enrolled in the first-year of 3-5 year undergraduate or integrated master's degrees in Commerce, Engineering, and medical fields at *selected colleges and universities in Ludhiana district. The recipients of this scholarship will be known as Satya Scholars. Through this scholarship, the Trust hopes to nurture talent, inspire dreams, and enable deserving students to pursue their education with confidence and dignity.

About Nehru Sidhant Kender Trust

The Nehru Sidhant Kender Trust was founded in the year 1983 by Late Shri Sat Paul Mittal as a tribute to the vision of India’s first Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. The Trust focuses on empowering youth from diverse socio-economic backgrounds, with particular emphasis on education, especially for girl children. Since its inception, the trust has supported over 26,500 students through scholarships and awards, disbursing Rs 9.50+ crore, benefiting 70% girls, and enabling 76% of youth to secure employment through vocational training. 

The Trust has established prominent educational institutions like Sat Paul Mittal School, ranked among India’s top 23 schools by Education World India (2025) and No. 1 in Punjab for ten consecutive years. Recently, the school achieved a milestone as a top performer in India’s first PISA-based Test for Schools (PBTS) by OECD Paris, demonstrating its commitment to global educational excellence. Horizon School of Excellence in Ludhiana district provides free quality education to students from diverse socio-economic backgrounds. Since its inception, the newly launched Vocational Centre has placed over 550 students in leading industries of Ludhiana district, with an average monthly salary of more than Rs 14,000, equipping them with skills for a brighter future.

What is the Eligibility

  • Must have passed Class 12 board exams from Ludhiana district with a minimum of 60% marks. 

  • Must be a citizen and resident of India. 

  • Annual parents' income should not exceed INR 5 Lakh from all sources. In case of orphan students, the guardian’s income should also not exceed INR 5 Lakh.

  • Open to students enrolled in the first-year of 3–5-year UG/integrated master's (eligible) courses in Commerce (BBA, BCom), Engineering (BTech, B.E. (all streams), B.Sc. (Engineering), BCA, B. Arch), and Medical (MBBS, BDS, BPT, B.Sc. (Nursing), B.Sc. (Paramedics)) from selected colleges/universities (Institutes) located in Ludhiana district.   • Preference given to girls, sportspersons (state/national/international level), persons with disabilities, orphans, and children of single parents.

  • Scholars must maintain 75% attendance, good conduct, and a minimum 6 GPA or 60% to continue with the scholarship — CLICK HERE for full information.

Benefits

  • Scholarships are for the full duration of the UG courses, including integrated courses of up to 5 years (subject to meeting the renewal criteria).
  • Each scholarship covers 100% of course fees as per the institute’s fee structure, excluding refundable charges like caution or security deposits.
  • Full tuition fee, if paid by the scholar in the first year, will be reimbursed directly to the student’s or the parent’s account.
  • In case Satya scholars are mandated to reside on campus as per the campus policy, the scholar may apply for hostel and mess charges, which may be considered by the Trust on a case-to-case basis.
  • Once the Satya Scholars graduate & are subsequently gainfully employed, they will undertake to voluntarily support at least one student at a school or college level on a continuous basis.

  • Institute's fee structure document

  • Parental income proof (Tehsildar/BDP certificate, affidavit for orphans/single parent, salary slips, ITR/Form 16, or BPL certificate)

  • Bank account details of applicant and parent

  • Crisis-related documents (death certificate of a parent or critical illness proof, if applicable)

  • PWD or sports achievement certificates, if applicable

  • Statement of Purpose (SOP) outlining aspirations and reason for applying
