About the Program
The Odisha Banishree Scholarship 2026 is offered through the Social Security and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Department, Government of Odisha, for students with disabilities. The aim is to help students with special needs engage in their studies and receive vocational training to become self-sufficient and contributing members of society. Selected candidates will receive up to ₹700 per month.

What is the Eligibility
To be eligible, an applicant must:-
- be a bonafide resident of Odisha
- possess a valid Unique Disability Identity (UDID) card
- be pursuing studies in the following
- Primary school (Classes 1-5)
- Middle & high school (Classes 6-12)
- Undergraduate (+2 and +3)
- Postgraduate
- Technical/ vocational/ professional training
Note:-
- Neither of the applicant's parents shall be an income taxpayer.
- Students enrolled in special schools or distance education recognised by the government are also eligible.
How to Apply
Eligible candidates can apply by following these steps:-
Step 1: Click on the 'Apply Now' button.
Step 2: Click on the 'Register' button and fill in the required details to register. (Note: If already registered, log in using Gmail/Mobile number/Email ID)
Step 3: Navigate to the respective scholarship tab and click on the 'Apply Now' button.
Step 4: Click on the 'Register Here' under the 'Sign In' button. (Note:- The applicants who are already registered can log in using valid credentials)
Step 5: Read all the instructions carefully, tick the terms and conditions, and click on 'Proceed' to continue.
Step 6: Provide the Aadhaar number and verify it to register.
Step 7: Once registered successfully, log in to the portal.
Step 8: Fill in the application form, upload photos and necessary documents, and click on the 'Apply' button to complete the process.
Note:- Students can alternatively apply through the head of school/ college/ educational institutions or the department web portal 'www.ssepd.gov.in'.

- For visually challenged candidates, Reader's Allowance will be ₹200 per month for primary classes, ₹300 for middle and high school, and ₹400 for other studies, provided the head of the institution certifies continuous employment of a reader, and the assistance is not from the Govt. of India.
- For orthopaedically handicapped students with 75% or more disabilities needing special transport arrangements, a monthly allowance of ₹200 may be granted if not covered by the integrated education scheme.
